Each spring, Capitol Hill neighbors come together to honor individuals whose distinguished service to our community has benefited us all. Through the generosity of Capitol Hill residents and business owners who sponsor and attend the awards event, the Foundation raises funds to support its grants and projects.

We look forward to celebrating the 41st Annual Capitol Hill Community Achievement Awards on Monday, May 5, with a cocktail reception and awards presentation at the beautifully renovated Folger Shakespeare Library. The 2025 honorees are Stephanie Byrd, Principal, Payne Elementary School; Susan Sedgewick, Community Volunteer Extraordinaire; and our own Mark Weinheimer, Secretary and Grants Committee Chairman of the Capitol Hill Community Foundation.

In addition, at this year’s awards event we will honor the recipients of the Foundation’s two annual $25,000 grants. The Folger Shakespeare Library is receiving the John Franzén Award for the Arts, and Live It Learn It and An Open Book Foundation are receiving the Arnold F. Keller, Jr., Grant.

Delicious passed and plated hors d’œuvres will be provided by Design Cuisine.
